The Bane Chronicles by Cassandra Clare, Sarah Rees Brennan, Maureen Johnson

*The following text is an honest, spoiler free review. Please enjoy.*

Cassandra Clare is one of those rare authors that can both start and end a story and leave your minding contemplating how perfect it was. After each of the 11 stories I was left wondering just how perfect it was. It left me breathless.

Magnus Bane is one of the few characters that tie all the Shadowhunter books together, but what happens between his appearances? And what really happened in that fabled Peru incident? Or how about how long has Magnus known the Herondale lineage? But my favorite question that gets answered? What happened with Alec when Magnus and him broke up and all told through phone messages.

If you're not looking forward to those answers, then look forward to the comic book style art before the story begins that gives you a mini preview of what's to come. Also there is a really cute demon that I just want to hug. Ahhh tentacle demons.

Review: 4.2 out of 5 stars. It’s a cute, 500 page book that I fell in love with.

In the Shadows by Kiersten White (text story) and Jim Di Bartolo (art story)

*The following text is an honest, spoiler free review. Please enjoy.*

Like two sides of a coin this book has two stories; both are interconnected and yet at different times. One story is fully through text while the other is fully through art. Just a suggestion to those who read it, thinking back on it, it would have been way more helpful had I read the text story fully then read the art story. It would have explained a lot.

Cora, Minnie, Thomas, Charles, and Arthur have been put together in a boarding house for the summer. With 5 teenages adventures are a given but what they discover? Not so much. It will take cunningness and sacrifice to stop this sinister plot from unraveling and destroying world.

I will admit this was one of the first young adult books I’ve read that is part text and part art in order to tell a story. Wow... that art was awesome. Seriously paging through it right now it’s breathtaking. It’s that kind of high grade stuff that deserves a place in museum. Then the story… it was so deep and thick. You had so many characters with different dynamics that you had to sort out in your head to just slightly understand them. Everyone had a backstory that was little known yet you could see how each and everyone of them were affected.

Rating: A solid 4.8 out of 5 stars. Trust me when I say this: read this book if you want a challenge or want something more than the typical YA novel. You will not be disappointed.

The Shadow Society by Marie Rutkoski

*The following text is an honest, spoiler free review. Please enjoy*

At first I wasn’t interested in reading this book because first off the description doesn’t do it any good and secondly the prologue is blah. It took me a few times of me picking it up and starting it and restarting it to actually read it. On another note: all around there were spoilers, description, prologue, and those pages GoFish pages near the back. The formatting fault was generally what kept me cringing away from what actually turned out to be a good book that I almost freezed my fingers off while trying to read. Here’s what the book is really about:

Darcy never had many friends, as she was tossed around from foster home to foster home for any reason to being ‘suicidal’ at age five or being ‘danger to others’, so when she finally gets to spend two years in a place it matters. But she was never like other foster children since she never remembered what happened before she was five years of age… at least not until Conn McCrea. Only then does she get to find out about who really is and the world she really comes from.

Marie Rutkoski I have so much respect for you. You turn scientific theories into really good young adult novels and this book happens to be based off of my favorite theory: the Many-world Interpretation. Whether you do this intentionally or not I love it.

The Shadow Society kept me captivated and wondering who I should trust and making me hate the ones I should. At times this book is a big game of Clue that dares you to read more and the other half giving you a rush of mystery and longing.

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars. Don’t just consider reading the book actually pick it up and read it you won’t be disappointed you did.

Circle of Stones by Catherine Fishe

*The following text is an honest, spoiler free review. Please enjoy.*

I first stumbled across this book at my local bookstore while having a conversation, about the book cover industry, with some friends and was entranced by it’s blueprint inspired cover. Unlike most books these days it is so much deeper than the cover it upholds. To understand the gist of the book here’s what you need to know:
  1. There is three different timelines going on: present, 300 years ago, and ancient times.
  2. These characters are far from Mary Sue complex.
  3. It’s by far the best book by Catherine Fisher at the moment.

I feel in love with the how the story holds a deeper meaning or rather the character’s aren’t what they seem. Now this would be something I would elaborate on but for fear of spoilers I won’t. That means you will have to read to find out. I feel that any way of me to explain this book or any other explanation just doesn't do this masterpiece any justice.

Rating: 4.9 out of 5. Probably one of the best books I’ve read so far. It is everything a young-adult book should be, character’s that drag you into their problems and make you fill with empathy, no good side or bad side (no, this book is something of the gray side), and an ending that leaves you wanting more yet you’re satisfied.

Ensnared by A.G. Howard

*The following text is an honest, spoiler free review. Please enjoy.*

For the last 5 days I’ve been putting off writing this review until I knew what to say… and I will admit I still somewhat don’t. So here it goes, my attempt to put my mind around the concept that my favorite series just ended:

Hey potential readers, if you have been hesitant on reading this series with the entire a-lot-of-good-characters-who-are-mostly-main-ones-die syndrome I need to tell you this: no one you love dies. I should probably mentioned that was a tad bit of a general spoiler… sorry readers. No, but the ending was absolutely amazing. I cried because of how perfect the ending was and that is saying something.

After the Red Queen and Sister Two crash the prom and take Morpheus and Jeb to the looking-glass dimension Alyssa will do anything to to get them back, and rescue her two worlds from utter chaos. Alyssa will have to give it everything, her heart and soul, in order to win back her crown and save everyone. In the midst of beauty and chaos will she manage to make peace with her two sides to pull it off?

A. G. Howard has really outdone herself this time, and she left enough room for the fandom to continue to thrive especially with a lot of area for fan fiction to be made, or even a sequel series if she would want. I look forward to what A.G. Howard will write next and I expect it to be as good or better than these last four books. I feel sad that this is the end. Bye characters I loved, I shall read about you again in my rereads of the series.

Rating: An amazing all out of the thousands of moths in the flying moth carpet that Morpheus flies with, and let’s add in a flying cane just for extra measure. Hmmm I think that means a 100% percent is in order 5 out of 5

Unhinged by A.G. Howard

*The following text is an honest, spoiler free review. Please enjoy.*

I’ve reread the book 7 times and it’s still my favorite book of all time. I need my own Morpheus so bad. WHY DON’T THEY MAKE FICTION CHARACTERS REAL!?

In the year after Splintered, Alyssa’s life has been pretty normal, you know normal stuff like talking bugs, hot moth guys visiting your dreams, and mosaics made out of blood. Yeah… normal, (we worry about you Alyssa.) The Red Queen has come back with a vengeance against Morpheus and Alyssa. Wonderland and the ones Alyssa’s loves have entered the cross-fire of this dangerous game. The question is ‘will they be able to stop it in time?’

Okay that sounds like Jeb does nothing in this book, but honestly it doesn’t focus as much on him as it does Morpheus. I have no regrets. I could say a lot of things, but I really won’t to make sure I don’t spoil anything; I will tell you one thing: Morpheus enters the real world. *Tapes mouth in order to not go on a lovely rant about Morpheus*

RATING 50 OUT OF 5 STARS! Read the book people, read the book. You will love it I promise you that.

Moth in the Mirror by A.G. Howard

*The following text is an honest, spoiler free review. Please enjoy.*

What can be better than seeing the point of view of your two favorite male characters why vie for Alyssa’s attention? Honestly, nothing is better. *Le sigh* Oh Morpheus and Jeb, you two, make us swoon.
In short, Morpheus goes to the train of lost memories to see why Jeb manages to catch Alyssa’s attention better than him via Jeb’s lost memories. This causes us to be in two different time periods, one of between book one and two with Morpheus, and the other in the scenes where Jeb and Alyssa are separated in book one.

Those scenes of Jeb’s were actual scenes from the original draft of Splintered. Hey, removed scenes don’t always die. Congrats for figuring out a way to include them A.G. Howard! Sadly this book is an Ebook which requires us to have kindles/nooks/iPads, but I so suggest getting it or borrowing it from a friend because this should not be missed. It explains so many of Morpheus’s actions in the next book.

4.9 out of 5 stars.

Splintered by A.G. Howard

*The following text is an honest, spoiler free review. Please enjoy.*

It’s finally time I got around to reviewing my favorite series by my favorite author, so yeah, I’m going to be a bit biased. Seriously I’ve debated doing this for a few months now since I’m afraid I’m going to embarrass myself in front of her. I may have had a little hesitation, but with three days (and counting) till the last book in the series comes out; so it’s time to throw that hesitation out the window and review the first three books before I’m too late.

The universe of Splintered is a darkly re-imagining of Lewis Carroll’s ‘Wonderland’ that you will fall in love with. Follow Alyssa, a descendant of Alice Liddell herself, as she confronts what she fears most, Wonderland, with the help of her crush/best friend Jeb. Of course Wonderland isn't what it seems… there is Morpheus to sing you a lullaby in your dreams.

Before I continue and fangirl into oblivion I have to give you a link to the amazing A.G. Howard’s blog because the book is only one half of the story the rest she reveals there: http://www.aghoward.com/

I could honestly go on a thirty minute rant on why this book needs to be read but I’m going to let the text speak for itself, literally; the ink is purple! That should be reason enough to read the book. Seriously, how many books have colored text?

Rating: If it is even possible (well to me it is,) I rate this book 10 out of 5 stars and that's saying something. MORPHEUS ALL THE WAY!!!
