So, as Cait previously mentioned (as in the last post) I have already read this book...twice I might add (and yes, it is that good). Since Cait just read this book and gave her thoughts and opinions on it, I decided that I would add my own thoughts on this beautiful (yet extremely gory) book. So...here we go.
Reaction:
I LOVE THIS BOOK! It has a love triangle, but it is perfect. It has a messed up protagonist, but she's perfect. There are two very hot men, but they're perfect. There is gore, and lots of it, but it's perfect. Needless to say, pretty much everything about this book is just about perfect. Oh, and by the way, this book is even more amazing the second time reading it than the first time. Why? I think it's because you notice more clues and points in the book that you don't really notice the first time around.
The Cover:
That is a really nice cover...really nice. *insert slight spoiler section* I think the white dress is supposed to represent Juliet's innocence, but in later books her dress turns into a darker black, which I think is supposed to represent her growing closer to insanity. If this is what the author had planned, I want to give her a high five. *End spoiler section* For some reason this cover also really creeps me out. I don't know if it's because of the color scheme or the fact that I know what the book is about, but for some reason this cover freaks the crap out of me.
The Characters:
Juliet: A strong, beautiful, insane, genius woman. After reading about Juliet I don't want any other YA fictions female protagonists. She feels so real! Yes, she does have two love interests but I think that's okay because she has honest complications and feelings about each of them. Needless to say, can I get more of Juliet in my reading?
Montgomery/Edward: I loved both of them until... (notice the ellipses) OMG that ending though...That is all I have to say about these two...read the book to find out.
Overall:
Overall, I want, scratch that, NEED the next book, like, now. For the second time reading this book, it was not a disappointment. So, please, save yourself the trouble and just read this book. It will make you have all the feels, and I mean all of them.

The Madman’s Daughter by Megan Shepherd
A young adult book based on a book by my all time favorite science fiction author? YES PLEASE. Who do I need to give all my money too?
*Reads the book* *Jaw hits the floor* I mean seriously what did I just read. Magic that’s what. Why didn’t I read this earlier? I am now beginning to question my book choices now. I should mention if I am being honest that is gorey but in a good/mad sorta way. Does that make any sense? No? Well let me just say it compliments the books theme very well.
The Madman’s Daughter goes like this: Juliet, an ex gentry, is living on the streets on her own after her father abandoned her after the “scandal”. It isn’t until she stumbles across some boys playing with the dark side of medicine that she hears rumors of him. She manages to track down his supposed location but all she finds is an old childhood friend, Montgomery, who takes her back to where her father and he hid out in the last six years. On the way there they meet the castaway Edward and the three of them discover the dark secrets her father holds dear.
Well dang… I am so messed up after this book. Messed up in a good way, that is. If you’ve read the book you will understand my pain especially after the end of the book. MEGAN SHEPHERD YOU CAN’T DO THAT TO A PERSON, IT’S JUST CRUEL. *breaths in, breaths out* I am so happy there is more books after this one. It leaves you in the most tortured state but I thoroughly enjoyed it and if you like morbid love stories then pick this book up and read it, enjoy it, and leave a comment about your opinions about the book.
Rating: 4 out of 5 stars.
P.S. Cait here, Terantum and I have both read it so we would be happy to nerd out with you about it.

A Genre Extravaganza!
So, I currently do not have a book ready to review (I am very sorry), but luckily Cait came up with the idea for me to list off some of my favorite books from a couple of genres. I will be listing three books for two genres.
Science Fiction
1) Across the Universe by: Beth Revis
Genre: Romance, Science Fiction, YA/Teen
Age: 13+
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
This book was the bomb! Please, if you enjoy a good romance with some space travel thrown in for kicks and giggles this is the book for you!
2) Cinder by: Melissa Meyer
Genre: Romance, Science Fiction, YA/Teen
Age: 12+
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
I have little words for this book because it was just that good. Seriously! This is one of the few series I have read where each book in the series is better than the last! Try "Cinder", I promise that you won't be disappointed!
3) Zodiac by: Romina Russell
Genre: Romance, Science Fiction, YA/Teen
Age: 13+
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
I actually was lucky enough to be able to read the ARC of this book...and I was blown away with this book. This book made me bite my nails so many times I'm surprised that they're still not stumps! Read it!
Fantasy
1) Shadow and Bone by: Leigh Bardugo
Genre: Romance, High Fantasy, YA/Teen
Age: 12+
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
In the words of Veronica Roth, "Unlike anything I've ever read." Need I say more? Here I'll say this: read it because it has the Darkling!
2) Infernal Devices (Clockwork Angel) by: Cassandra Clare
Genre: Romance, Fantasy, Historical, YA/Teen
Age: 12+
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
One of the best fantasy novels ever! This is better then the Mortal Instruments series, so what does that tell you about this series? That it is amazing? That you should read it? Both of these answers are correct, so just save yourself the trouble and pain and read this series.
3) Seven Realms (Demon King) by: Cinda Williams Chima
Genre: Semi-Romance, HIGH fantasy, YA/Teen
Age: 11+
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
If you want a fantasy series that you can really commit to and get involved in this is the one for you! With four books in total, the Seven Realms series has a sweet romance, a well built world, and an exciting plot!
So, there are the books...

RE: Q & A My Way
Cait here, so recently you heard Part 1 with Ternatum and learning her pet peeves and other random stuff about books so we felt like it’s time you knew some things about me about books: (Click here to check her part: http://sweetendbook.blogspot.com/2015/02/a-different-kind-of-q-a.html)
Well that’s easy. Eve, Charles, and Caleb and yes I choose a love triangle since the two couples are so screwed up that they hold the same title. So let’s begin with Eve and Charles. Eve is the daughter of the King and has been forced into marriage with Charles who happens to be a big military guy. Eve treats him like crap when all he wants to do is have a mutual friendship and wants to help and protect her. The problem is that this is all caused by the other big couple Eve and Caleb aka the guy she had an affair with and got pregnant with his child which he abandoned her with causing Charles to have to protect her, causing her to hate him. Long story short it’s an endless story of hate. Oh the book? Rise by Anna Carey.
What is your biggest bookish pet peeve?
All my big book pet peeves have to do with the ending of a series and really complies to a list of seven don’t in ending a series and the books they originated from:
- Kill off main character (Allegiant)
- Have the main characters never talk to each other (Nicholas Flamel Series)
- Solve the entire problem in one sentence (Wither)
- Get the main character pregnant (Way too many series too count)
- Have the main character fall in love with someone else besides love interest (Delirium)
- Have the main character get married (Twilight)
- AND FINALLY… Have immortal characters fall in love for the first and last time (Fallen)
What book are you most excited for in 2015?
Hm… is the new Cassandra Clare series still a thing going on this year? If not then between the next book in the Sherlock and Holmes series or Winter (The Lunar Chronicles). The thing is I’m looking for a new roster of obsession series since this year ended most of them. *Mourns the loss of series*
What playlist would you pick for your favorite book?
After 30 minutes of researching songs I came to this list for my favorite book Ensnared by A.G. Howard:
Her Name is Alice by Shinedown. This song perfectly fits Alyssa, Wonderland and all the crazy stuff going on there.
Wonderland by Natalia Kills. I’m 100% sure Alyssa would agree with me that she doesn’t need a prince charming to save her, she can save herself and save the guys she loves while doing it.
Operator by The Ready Set (remixed by NightcoreReality): I love the nightcored version of this song as it keeps with the sporadic and fast paced personality of Morpheus and how he feels about Alyssa and how he perceives that she is torturing him by using his feelings toward her.
I Write Sins Not Tragedies by Panic! At the Disco: This song wraps up everything that Jeb and Morpheus catch between the other and Alyssa and how they sure as the sun shines bright hate each other for it.
Sugar, We’re Goin Down by Fall Out Boy: During the last book Jeb feels a lot of guilt for how he treats Alyssa in order to protect her and so he decides to try to go out with a bang.
Misery Buisness by Paramore: Wow this song is the first one I thought of when I thought of Taylor and how she purely enjoys causing misery and pain to others especially when it has to do with Jeb.

Love and Other Foreign Words by: Erin McCahan
Title: Love and Other Foreign Words
Author: Erin McCahan
Genre: Contemporary, Romance,Chick lit, Humor, YA/Teen
Age Group: 12+
Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars
Summary:
Can anyone be truly herself--or truly in love--in a language that's not her own?
Sixteen-year-old Josie lives her life in translation. She speaks High School, College, Friends, Boyfriends, Break-ups, and even the language of Beautiful Girls. But none of these is her native tongue -- the only people who speak that are her best friend Stu and her sister Kate. So when Kate gets engaged to an epically insufferable guy, how can Josie see it as anything but the mistake of a lifetime? Kate is determined to bend Josie to her will for the wedding; Josie is determined to break Kate and her fiancé up. As battles are waged over secrets and semantics, Josie is forced to examine her feelings for the boyfriend who says he loves her, the sister she loves but doesn't always like, and the best friend who hasn't said a word -- at least not in a language Josie understands. (Taken From the Goodreads Website)
Reaction:
Well, well, well, wasn't that just a surprising little gem of a book! I usually don't like reading cutesy, little contemporary novels because they are either so much like real life that it depresses me or they are so far off of real life I wonder how it is even considered contemporary, but this book was the real deal. Surprisingly it had just the right amount of romance that it wasn't overpowering but a cute addition to the real story. The actual story was more about finding yourself and connecting with your family. Needless to say...I loved, loved, loved this book!!!!!
The Characters:
Josie: Josie is fifteen years old (almost sixteen) and is gifted, meaning that she is extremely intelligent. She is not only smart in required subjects: Math, English, Science, etc., but she has a surprising knack for languages. I really liked Josie. She felt very real to me and went through problems that I feel are completely understandable such as: not liking her sister's fiancée, thinking her sister's fiancée is breaking up her and her sister's relationship, having boy trouble, liking and older man, etc. Josie went through a lot of trouble to deal with her problems and didn't just whine about them throughout the book. If she wanted something to happen, she made it happen. Josie was just the bomb diggadie.
Side Characters (Stu, Stefan, Ethan, Kate, Mom/Dad, Geoff, etc.): The side characters were a wonderful addition to the story! I felt like I could connect with them which made me feel like I was experiencing the story and not just reading it! The author did a really great job at building up a personality for all of her characters which made the story a win!
Overall:
This story was a win. I loved it sooooo much! I don't really have much to say about this novel other then how fantastic it was! The only reason that I took of .5% was because the story did have one or two times where the plot dragged, which I really, really, really do not enjoy. But, I can't complain because overall this book was a cute little work of art. If you guys want something to read after a book hangover this one is for you!!!!

Ignite Series by Erica Crouch: Blog Tour!
*The following text is a completely honest review. Thank you and please enjoy the review.*
Thank you Patchwork Press for introducing me to this amazing series and for allowing me to be part of the Blog Tour. Did I mention I think I found my obsession series. 2 more books? Yes, please let me have them now.
So the Ignite series deals with the popular topic of Fallen Angels. At least with fallen angels it hasn’t been overdone and we don’t have any of the sparkly variety around here. No we just have the feathery variety. I’ve read many books dealing with Fallen Angels (check my other reviews if you don’t believe me,) and this one by far is the best. Erica Crouch has writing skills beyond most big name authors.
I can see that skepticism brewing in your eyes. Don’t believe do you? It’s okay I understand but here’s my proof:
“Since when do you work with angels, Nicor?” I ask, spitting on the ground to get rid of the taste of the
gag.
“Since when do you?” Nicor counters.
Sidriel comes closer to me, running his fingers up the flat of Michael’s sword. “Times are changing,
child.”
Michael tries to move his arm out of the ropes that wrap around his entire torso. They bound him much
more securely than they tied me. I should be insulted.
“So, what? You’re going to kill us?” I ask, looking between the two. “Then do it already. Quit stalling. Or
do you not have the stomach for it?”
Pen, Michael’s voice warns in my head.
Would hate to have you mess up your hair.”
The exhaustion that tugged me down earlier is all but dissipated, eaten away by the anger I have in the
face of death. I won’t go this way. Won’t let Nicor kill me. Please.
Nicor walks away from me and tucks himself at the base of a tree, sitting with his legs stretched in front
of him, his ankles crossed. “I’m in no rush,” he says. “Besides, the job pays more if we keep you alive.”
I look at Michael then Sidriel, who smiles at me.
“Then you’re working for Azael?”
“We work for nothing but gold,” Sidriel says, a flash of fury lighting his orange eyes. “Whose pockets it
comes from makes no difference.”
I snort. “Right. Keep telling yourself that. You’re just lowly foot soldiers now.” I make sure Sidriel meets
my gaze when I say, “A bit of a step-down from Prince, no?”
Sidriel drops Michael’s sword next to Nicor, propping it up against the tree. He produces a golden sickle
and strikes out, but not at me. The curved blade pulls across Michael’s leg, tearing him open. His pants
rip, and all I see is hot, pink muscle. The only reaction Michael gives is a low groan and the tightening of
his jaw, a tension in his forehead. He closes his eyes against the pain, and my stupid courage withers in
my stomach.
“Stop!” I scream.
That excerpt comes from the third book, Incite, that came out on the 17th of this month (Happy Book Birthday!). The point of view is from no other than our favorite Heroine of the series Pen. When Pen was in heaven she was a scribe who used to work with her twin Azrael, who collected souls. They both fell from heaven at the same time and when war happened they joined Hell and Azreal played a major part by almost sacrificing his life as shown in Entice (book 1.5) much to the dismay of Pen.
#1 Ignite: This is the first book of the series that really sets up the dynamics between characters and the main plot point. Pen (a demon) and Michael (brother to Lucifer and an archangel) fall in love. Basically the biggest no-no one can commit.
#1.5 Entice: Take a break from the main plot for a book that really should be number .5. Entice tells you all about what happened before the story and what lead to the current plot. This could also be referred to the events in Eden (yes I mean the Garden of Eden.) Wonderful book that I suggest you read first in order to fully understand everything.
#2 Incite: Not to be confused with it’s sister book Ignite. Welcome back to the plot of Pen and Michael. This book is told in alternative views between Azrael and his hunt for sister Pen who he seems to have a love/hate feeling toward during this book, and Pen who is trying her best to play keep away from her brother while also protecting Michael and managing to find a safe haven.
After reading these books back to back my mind whirled and wanted more. You had the most interesting take on Fallen Angels right within these pages and trust me when I say you will be missing out on a masterpiece if you decide to skip out on these books. Erica Crouch keep it coming!.
Ratings: Ignite: 4.5 out of 5 stars. Entice: 4.8 out of 5 stars. Incite: 5 out of 5 stars.

Compulsion by: Martina Boone
Title: Compulsion
Author: Martina Boone
Genre: Romance, Gothic, Mystery, Teen/YA
Age Group: 13+
Rating: 2 out of 5 stars
Summary:
Three plantations. Two wishes. One ancient curse.
All her life, Barrie Watson has been a virtual prisoner in the house where she lives with her shut-in mother. When her mother dies, Barrie promises to put some mileage on her stiletto heels. But she finds a new kind of prison at her aunt’s South Carolina plantation instead--a prison guarded by an ancient spirit who long ago cursed one of the three founding families of Watson Island and gave the others magical gifts that became compulsions.
Stuck with the ghosts of a generations-old feud and hunted by forces she cannot see, Barrie must find a way to break free of the family legacy. With the help of sun-kissed Eight Beaufort, who knows what Barrie wants before she knows herself, the last Watson heir starts to unravel her family's twisted secrets. What she finds is dangerous: a love she never expected, a river that turns to fire at midnight, a gorgeous cousin who isn’t what she seems, and very real enemies who want both Eight and Barrie dead.
Reaction:
Ummm...WTF much? I was really hoping for something spectacular but instead I got a rip off of "Beautiful Creatures" mixed with "Pretty Little Liars". When I started this novel I thought that it was going to be better than the fail of the "Beautiful Creatures" series, and it was...for the first 100 pages. The rest was just of mess of attempting to be a gothic mystery novel.
Characters:
Barrie (AKA bipolar b****): Hmmm, how shall I explain my hatred of Barrie. Well first off, she changed her mood every three seconds. Such as when one second she wants to kiss Eight (what the frick kind of name is this anyways?) and next she wants him to stay away from her because "he knows what she wants" all the time. What the heck kind of excuse is that anyways? Overall she was annoying and I didn't like her.
Least favorite quote from her: “Her hands crept around his neck, tangling in his hair to keep him closer, even though she knew that beautiful boys with expiration dates couldn't be held, only borrowed for a time.”
Why I hate it: She is USING Eight. Why am I the only one who can see this? She pretty much is saying in this quote that she is just going to seduce and mess around with Eight but can never really care about him because he has "an expiration date" WTF?
Eight (AKA the boy next door, literally): Another perfect cookie cutter mold of a boy in teen literature? Why it's not like I see this EVERY FREAKING TIME A READ A BOOK ANYMORE! He is sooooo perfect...for example: "Eight meanwhile kicked off his flip-flops and stripped off his shirt. Barrie caught her breath. Eight Beaufort would make any girl catch her breath." By the way this is only page 24, insta-love much? But, because he is a supposedly perfect boy he has to have a problem, his...dyslexia. Oh no, what a tragedy. Overall: he is the same boy as every other teen novel with a love interest. So, no, his "sexy" shirtless body did not make me swoon.
The Cover:
Best part of the book. That's all I have to say...and that cover isn't even that good, what does that tell you about the book?
Overall:
Why did I waste three days of my short life on this piece of trash? I was hoping for a creepy, gothic romance with a dash of southern charm, but instead I got a middle grade Romeo and Juliet with some terribly written southern accents. The only reason I gave this book two stars was because of the first good 100 pages and Barrie's Godfather. That was all I liked about this book.

Angelfire by Courtney Allison Moulton
*The following text is an honest review. Thank you and please enjoy the review.*
Hey everyone I have some breaking news, I found the American, Angelic version of the anime Blood +. No one noticed that? If you think about it the plot is exactly the same: a really powerful girl who has an ancient magic sword, a crush on her sworn protector who refuses to love her because of promises and is half whatever magical being they are, and is trying to get rid of a race of evil beings that will try to kill them at all costs. Who knew the Japanese and American authors had so much in common?
Ellie is a living, mortal version of the angel Gabriel, who has been tasked for lifetimes now, by heaven, to kill the demons that infect our world. If she only knew from the start. No, she only finds out on her 17th birthday when her protector Will reveals this to her (another thing that Angelfire has in common with Blood +). Then she gets shoved into this world of secrecy, pain, and fear.
It’s interesting to see how something spanning two different languages could be so similar in plotwise at least, and still manages to infuriate you the same amount since the two characters won’t end up together even though you know they are end game. Really are stories just filling one archetype or another? No creative ideas? Okay I guess I have to settle for remakes.
This series doesn’t really get original till the second book and the third one I just couldn’t finish because it played into another typical YA trap of stereotypes of having an injured, comatic, or partially dead main character and they have to go on a quest to save them. Okay at best this series is a filler series between two great series. It’s full of sweet nothings in which you will most likely not remember after reading them.

A Different Kind of Q & A
So, I asked Cait to ask me some questions that she thinks would be entertaining for me to answer...here they are, I hope you enjoy!
In the spirit of Superwoman: If you were a unicorn what color would your tail be?
Now that I actually think about it this question is actually pretty hard to answer. Like, I mean, come on, I can't just pick one color for a tail! If I was a unicorn I would want to have a rainbow tail, or I guess if I had to pick one color it would be lime green because I love lime green, it's my favorite color.
You're an avid reader who has finished many series, so what is your number one way of how NOT to finish a series?
I know the answer to this one! So, if you don't want to finish a series convince yourself that it will be bad. When you think something isn't good than you aren't interested in it, so you won't read the book. Or there is another option...just put so many books on your TBR pile that you won't have a chance to finish that series.
Now what is your ideal ending to a series?
Hmmm, this one is difficult because there are so many things that I like when I end a series and most of them depend on what mood I am in. I guess that I would have to pick these: 1) Love interests get together...and stay together (if there are love interests). 2) The book has to wrap up the conflict in a way that makes sense and is satisfying. 3) And lastly, I can't have any major confused questions when I finish the book, not the kind of questions that make you think, but the kind of questions that leave you angry about not having them answered.
Who is your favorite fictional character?
Now I really dislike you Cait (Just kidding ;)) Do I really just have to pick one? I love so many fictional characters that I can't just pick one! But, I guess if I did have to pick just one it would have to be Jem Carstairs from the Infernal Devices, because he is just fantastic and I love him with all my heart and soul. I'm not going to pick the obvious answer, Harry Potter, because he is already the best so someone new needs to step in...Jem.
Speaking of fictional characters, who is your fictional crush?
Well, I think I've already answered that, but I guess I can answer it again...Jem, but there are also others...I shall list them all for you...
1) Jem Carstairs (Infernal Devices)
2) Gideon de Villiers (Ruby Red)
3) Mathias Thias (Zodiac)
4) Will Herondale (Infernal Devices)
5) Daemon Black (Lux)
6) Noah Shaw (Mara Dyer)
7) Oliver Wood (Harry Potter)
Those are some of my main ones, I'm sure there are more but I can't remember any right now...
Anyways, those are the end of the questions for right now! If you have any more questions, any at all, mention them in the comments and we'll answer them for you!

Jessica’s Guide to Dating on the Dark Side by Beth Fantaskey
What in the world did I just read? Okay if I am going to be completely honest I started reading this book as a joke to make fun of it. I mean seriously, it’s a vampire book and one of the most iconic Young-Adult Romance books out there, but then I read the synopsis and was thinking this had to be a joke. And a joke it was… at least until I fell in love with it and then out of love just as fast.
Here’s how this Twilight-esque book plays out:
Jessica has lived in a small town in America all her life as a girl trying escape her cult-like family, or at least that’s what she’s told, all her life. When new, goth, hot, rich, stereotypically arrogant guy shows up, her life is put in a blender with hopes of becoming a delicious smoothie. Shocker is he claims to be a vampire prince and that he’s her betrothed. Awkward moment here, awkward moment there, the guy becomes emo and tries to kill everyone.
*Breathes in, breathes out* I mean seriously in some ways I think this book is genius and some ways I think this series is just making fun of the vampire genre as a whole. You got the worlds most realistic representation on teenage romance and all it’s awkwardness, then you got her still being in love with the guy after him cheating and trying to kill her I mean seriously, what in the world.
General Consensus: First half=Amazing… Second half= Less than be desired for.
Rating: 3 out of 5 stars. Cait out.
