The Vampire Stalker by: Allison Van Diepen

Title:  The Vampire Stalker
Author:  Allison Van Diepen
Genre:  Romance, Paranormal, YA/Teen
Age:  11+
Rating:  4 out of 5 stars

Summary:

What if the characters in a vampire novel left their world--and came into yours?

Amy is in love with someone who doesn't exist: Alexander Banks, the dashing hero in a popular series of vampire novels. Then one night, Amy meets a boy who bears an eerie resemblance to Alexander. In fact, he IS Alexander, who has escaped from the pages of the book and is in hot pursuit of a wicked vampire named Vigo. Together, Amy and Alexander set out to track Vigo and learn how and why Alexander crossed over. But when she and Alexander begin to fall for each other, Amy wonders if she even wants him to ever return to the realm of fiction.

Reaction:

I read this is one sitting.  Now, I know what you are thinking, "Seriously, look at that cover!  That pretty much looks like the lamest book ever!"  But, as the old saying goes, "don't judge a book by it's cover!"  This book was fun, light, and everything I like in an "in-between book".  In-between as in a book that I read between reading more intense books.

Amy (aka Ames):

I loved Amy!  She was funny and felt very real!  But there was two more important things that I loved about her.  First off, she is a fangirl and frequently has fangirl moments by herself and with her friends.  And Secondly, she writes fanfiction!  Holy Cannoli!  I haven't encountered a book character that writes fanfiction since "Fangirl" by Rainbow Rowell.

Alexander Banks (aka Alex)

Ahhh, Alexander how you make me laugh.  Seriously, on more than one occasion he made me laugh until my brother asked me if I was choking.  Also, Alexander is a great guy.  He treats Amy with the utmost respect and is very hardworking and kind.

Overall:

This book was great.  Please everyone don't judge it by it's hideous cover.  I will defiantly be watching out for this author in the future!

The Legend of the Light Keeper by Kelly Hall {Blog tour + Top 10 list!}

The following review is an honest review by a fellow nerd and fangirl.*

*Closes book* WOW… that was amazing, but before I get to that let me give you a little bit of information about the book before I go on a complete rant.

Author: Kelly Hall
Title: The Legend of the Light Keeper
Series: The Light Keeper Series
Publication Date: March 25, 2015
Publisher: Booktrope

Synopsis:
After a hurricane destroys her home, Lily Jordan is ready for life to get back to normal. That would be easy if her mother’s recent engagement hadn’t landed her in a house along Southeast Texas’ most haunted ghost road.
The secluded scenic road is steeped in rich history and legends, but when Lily is given an old diary on her birthday, will she find that those legends hold more for her future than she’s bargained for?
With the help of new friends, Hunter and Owen, and forbidden love, Talon, will she uncover dark secrets from the past and find the key to her own gifts? Is it fate or circumstance that brought her to her new home?
Normal gives way to the paranormal in book one of the Light Keeper series where mystery and suspense will keep you guessing until the very last page.
OPINION: Yay! Now I can go on a rant. When I first started this book and saw Lily’s love interest is her soon to be step brother I had to look up if it was legal.... Well apparently it is. LET THE SHIPPING COMMENCE! Also her other love interest is her third cousin, which also means she could legally date him too. We got ourselves the cutest love triangle here!
Paranormal is a regular occurrence in this book, because ghosts are always looking for someone to solve their murder. The light will find you and it will suck timeout of your life. Then there’s this magic water. I mean what? This book is amazing, PICK IT UP!

Author Bio:
Kelly Hall was born and raised in Southeast Texas, and lives in a small town just a stone’s throw from the ghost road where her Light Keeper series is based. When she’s not busy writing, or spending time with her husband and two sons, this self-proclaimed creative junkie dabbles in many different forms of art, including cake decorating and mixed media.

So I asked Kelly Hall to give me a top 10 list about something and she gave me one about her top ten urban legends:

Kelly Hall

The Legend of the Light Keeper Book Tour
My Top 10 Favorite Urban Legends
Since my book, The Legend of the Light Keeper, is based on a local urban legend, I decided to list some others that inspire me.
10. Bloody Mary- I remember as a kid me and my friend doing this at the bathroom mirror, and while I tried to put on a brave front, I was haunted for weeks that Mary would show up. I never played it again.
9. Dead Ringer- The tale of being buried alive has always scared me. I think that would be one of the worst ways to die. The fact that people used to tie a string to their beloved one’s hand after death is just creepy.
8. Light as a Feather, Stiff as a Board- This tale claims a circle of friends could levitate a person using their index fingers while simply chanting “Light as a feather, stiff as a board.” I remembered when I was a kid my older sisters had a slumber party where they tried this. I don’t remember what happened just that I was mad I couldn’t play too.
7. Bigfoot- I’ve always been obsessed with Big Foot and what fascinates me most of all is that so many people claim to see him and he’s been seen in some variety all over the world. Those people are seeing something, is it Big Foot, who knows, but it sure is neat.
6. Alien abductions- The thought of other beings similar to humans, living in a place similar to Earth has always fascinated and inspired me. The thought that if they exist they might come into our homes and steal us away in the night is pretty freaky.
5. Cats Stealing Your Breath- This is an old wives tale that I remember my grandmother and her sister talking about with newborns. The claim is that a cat will go into your room and sit on your chest and steal the breath from your face causing you to smother. That always freaked me out, but I love cats!
4. Possessed Dolls- I have always thought dolls were creepy, but that didn’t stop me from collecting porcelain dolls. Their little round faces, permanent smiles, and dead set eyes make them appear pretty to some and pretty evil to others.  I once read a book where a doll was broken and it bled. I’ve never looked at them the same since.
3. Evil Clowns- Clowns have never bothered me as long as they are in a familiar setting such as a carnival or circus. But take that same clown and stick him in a different unexpected setting, like on a hiking trail in the deep forest, and that sweet, funny face, turns into something menacing and quite disturbing. That and the fact clowns have been portrayed in so many movies as evil, and with Gacy bringing that fear to life, I’d say I don’t blame anyone for being a little creeped out by them.
2. The Babysitter and the Clown- This urban legend always freaked me out. The babysitter calls the parents of the child she’s watching to ask if she can put their creepy life-sized clown doll in the closet, only to have them say that they don’t own a creepy clown doll. The idea of being in a strange house all alone at night is enough to scare me. Every little noise sets the nerves on edge.
1. Mothman- I’ve always been fascinated with Mothman and the thought of omens. Creatures like this are very popular in urban legends and with so many people linking together claims of their existence it makes it quite interesting.
So that’s a list of my favorite Urban Legends, did some of them match your own? Whether the stories are true or not, it really doesn’t matter. The fun is in the mystery.
Isn’t she wonderful, and she got me this little thing. In order to help ensure you can have this book for yourself we have a Rafflecoptor:

That’s all for today. Cait out

Red Queen by: Victoria Aveyard

Title:  Red Queen
Author:  Victoria Aveyard
Genre:  High fantasy, romance, YA/Teen
Age:  12+
Rating:  A BILLION MIND-BLOWING STARS!!!!!  (5 out of 5 stars)

Summary:

The poverty stricken Reds are commoners, living under the rule of the Silvers, elite warriors with god-like powers.

To Mare Barrow, a 17-year-old Red girl from The Stilts, it looks like nothing will ever change.

Mare finds herself working in the Silver Palace, at the centre of
those she hates the most. She quickly discovers that, despite her red blood, she possesses a deadly power of her own. One that threatens to destroy Silver control.

But power is a dangerous game. And in this world divided by blood, who will win?  (Taken from the Goodreads website)

Reaction:

Dear Ms. Victoria Aveyard,

I once watched the move "The Incredible Burt Wonderstone" in which there is a character (played by Jim Carrey) who is in a TV show called "The Brain Rapist", in which this magician messes with your mind.  You, Ms. Aveyard are also a "brain rapist".  I know this sounds weird but I mean it in all the best ways.  You made me have ALL the feels...all of them.  I'm still reeling from this book.  And that plot twist...ohmigosh.  I can't even.  I never saw that plot twist coming!  Can you please write more of everything?  Seriously guys, this woman knows how to write a story that will never make you want to put the book down!  You are amazballs.

Sincerely,
Terantum

Characters:

Mare Barrow:
Mare, my friends, is the Red Queen.  She is a redblood who has the power to control lightning.  A power that no other red or silver, for that matter, has.  I loved Mare.  She was snarky, kind, and fought hard for what she believed was right.  Mare is defiantly no Mary Sue.  I cannot wait to see what she holds in store for us.

Maven:
"I knew you were trouble when you walked in..."  I shall say no more.

Cal:
"I knew you were trouble when you walked in..."  I shall say no more for Cal either.

I'm really sorry for the vague explanation of these two characters, but this is a spoiler free zone and really saying anything about these two characters will pretty much give everything in the story away.  And I literally mean everything...

Overall:

I.  Need.  More.  This is one of the best high fantasy books I've read in a long time that has actually made me feel something (besides "Kiss of Deception", of course).  This is a fantastic, original story, and I think all of the people saying that this is just like "Red Rising" are lying to themselves.  These two stories are nothing alike.  I cannot wait for the next book to come out.  I think I might die waiting for it.

Lady Thief by A.C. Gaughen

*The following review is an honest review by a fellow nerd and fangirl.*

If you remember the first book in the series, Scarlet, ended up in my top 10 fairy tale retellings, and has it’s own review so if you haven’t checked that out you really should so I don’t spoil anything from the first book.

Lady Thief takes place a few months after the last book, going from summer to winter before the start of this book. During this time everything has been fairly quiet in Nottinghamshire despite the freezing temps. That is until news comes that Gisbourne is back for Scarlet, and the Prince is coming town. For some reason that makes me think that this is the beginning of a sitcom. If only it was because things are going to get dark very quickly.

Compared to the first book (which I loved!) I have got to say this ties it.

The easiest way to explain this book is that the world of Nottinghamshire and the universe of Robin Hood is under a sun blocked by the clouds. Things will get a lot worse before they get better, but it’s nice to see the characters try to fight it.

Robin Hood at the end of the last book was tortured, now he’s still dealing with the psychological end of said torture, and Post Traumatic Stress haunts him. He gets to the point where he gets so violent he has to send his friends away in order to protect them and stay true to himself.

Scarlet chooses to face her demons to save everyone. She decides to risk everything and ends up getting the punishment for the end result. Somewhere she decides that the things she risks can be worth her well being.

John’s decisions finally end of getting him in trouble, but he decides to respond in the best way possible, and make it up.

Much becomes the moral compass everyone looks toward and is dependable. He finally overcomes his self doubts to become a hero.

Do I love this story/ series? More than you can ever imagine, A.C. Gaughen teaches us we are more than the situation we are faced with. We can become the hero of our own story if we live up to what we do, and think to make the best choices to help others around us.

The Kiss of Deception by: Mary E. Pearson

Title:  The Kiss of Deception

Rating:  5 out of 5 stars

Summary:

She settles in among the common folk, intrigued when two mysterious and handsome strangers arrive—and unaware that one is the jilted prince and the other an assassin sent to kill her. Reaction:

Holy Shizballs!  What did I just read?  I have no words, none.  Mary E. Pearson if you ever read this I just want to tell you that you are a genius and the master of plot twists, because that plot twist though!  Just go and read the book...  When I started this book it was a little slow, but the slowness only lasted about 20 pages for me.  After that...well, it was a thrill ride.  I just couldn't put this book down!  Rafe or Kaden can I have you both?  I don't care that *insert one of those two characters, because I don't want to spoil anything* is an assassin!  My heart still beats for both of you!

Characters:

Princess Arabella Celestine Idris Jezelia, First Daughter of the House of Morrighan (aka Lia):
Sheesh, what a mouthful!  If I had that title I would sure want a one syllable nickname as well!  Anyways.  Lia is a kick butt awesome princess.  She doesn't shy away from labor work even though she is not accustom to it.  Lia is brave, smart, and strong.  She is everything I could ever, ever want in a heroine.  There was one scene that involved Lia and some grave digging (I won't give anything away) that especially moved me.  If I could have dinner with a female fictional character of my choice Lia would be at the top of the list!

Pauline:
Poor, poor Pauline :( I feel for you girl!  Pauline is also a strong female character just like Lia.  Pauline leaves everything that she knows to run away from the kingdom with Lia even though she knows the consequences of getting caught.  I hope that her baby is going to be cute and that Mikael hangs himself.

Rafe:
I love you...*cough, cough* just kidding.  I'm sorry Rafe my heart already has someone (Stephen).  Anyways.  Rafe is a-w-e-s-o-m-e awesome, awesome that is he (changed up that song a bit).  Rafe is handsome, strong, brooding, and kind.  He is willing to help Lia and friends in any situation.  Basically he is awesomesauce.

Kaden:
Don't worry Kaden I love you too.  Kaden is also handsome, strong, and kind.  He also likes to help Lia out, which is sweet of him.  But, my friends, Kaden has a secret -_- I hate secrets.

I'm not going to say much more about Rafe and Kaden because that would give a lot of stuff away.  I'm also not going to say who is the assassin and who is the prince.  You're just going to have to figure that one out for yourself.

Overall:

This book made me have all the feels.  I had to come out into the kitchen at 9:30 at night just so I could tell my family the plot twist (still reeling from that plot twist).  Save yourself the heartbreak and get this book...pretty please!

I.  Need.  More.  Now.  -Terantum

Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief by: Rick Riordan

Title:  Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief
Author:  Rick Riordan
Genre:  Mythology, Adventure, Middle Grade
Age:  ANY AGE (yep...that's the first time I've ever said that)
Rating:  5 out of 5 stars (my brother says I should rate it 6 out of 5)

Summary:

Percy Jackson is a good kid, but he can't seem to focus on his schoolwork or control his temper. And lately, being away at boarding school is only getting worse-Percy could have sworn his pre-algebra teacher turned into a monster and tried to kill him. When Percy's mom finds out, she knows it's time that he knew the truth about where he came from, and that he go to the one place he'll be safe. She sends Percy to Camp Half Blood, a summer camp for demigods (on Long Island), where he learns that the father he never knew is Poseidon, God of the Sea. Soon a mystery unfolds and together with his friends -- one a satyr and the other the demigod daughter of Athena -- Percy sets out on a quest across the United States to reach the gates of the Underworld (located in a recording studio in Hollywood) and prevent a catastrophic war between the gods.  (Taken from the Goodreads Website)

Reaction:

I am really late joining this bandwagon!  But hey, now here I am...a teenager reading middle grade stuff and I'm loving it!  Actually this started out as a "bet" with my brother.  If I read the Percy Jackson series he would read the Eragon series.  I really did not think that I would enjoy reading Percy Jackson but I surprised myself by loving it completely.  Sure, the writing is simple but the plot and research that had to go into this novel had to be INSANE!  Seriously guys, no matter if you are twelve or twenty five you are guaranteed to love reading this book.  I will go as far as to say that this brings me back to the days of my reading of Harry Potter.

Characters:

Perseus "Percy" Jackson (aka Seaweed Brain):
Percy is a brave little wimp, which is an oxymoron, but if you read the series it will make perfect sense.  If Percy was in the Harry Potter world he would surely be a Gryffindor.  Percy is always willing to stand up for his friends and what he believes in.  I would also go as far to say that he is a little too trusting.  I hope for the best for this little demigod.

Annabeth Chase (aka Wise Girl):
Annabeth is the epitome of a smartass (please excuse my French), but that is what makes her so loveable.  Annabeth is a daughter of Athena, which means that she is not only smart but also great at battle strategy.  Even though she starts out "hating" Percy, they eventually grow to be good friends.  Like Percy, Annabeth is also willing to do anything to protect her friends.  Annabeth reminds me of Hermione a little bit, which means I would place her in Gryffindor (can I put her in Gryffinclaw?  Can she be a Gryffindor-Ravenclaw?)

Grover Underwood (aka G-man):
Poor, poor baby Grover (even though he is nowhere near a baby).  Grover has had a pretty hard time as a satyr, but like Neville Longbottom, Grover has more to offer than what might be originally thought.  I actually thought Grover was one of the bravest of our three heroes, even if he might not act like it.  I hope good things happen to Grover.  Also a Gryffindor.

Overall:

Why haven't I read this before?  Why did my brother have to be the one to recommend this to me?  But hats off to you baby bro, you did a great justice with this series.  All in all, I need the next one now (hehehe I already have it in my possession!).  This might be one of the last middle grade book I read in a while, but I'm glad this is the one that I chose.

Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins

*The following review is completely honest.*

Cait here (finally back from vacation that is, so sorry from lack of posts) and Terantum my 2 to zero score against you in the way of recommending books has been lost. On the other hand you just scored your first point!

Cait: 2
Terantum: 1

You know how recently I was bashing Rebel Belle without even reading it? You also said I should read it, and you were right! It was amazing! Remind me later that you are always right when it comes to books Sis.

Rebel Belle revolves around a southern belle by the name of Harper Price who ends up at the wrong place at the wrong time. If only Harper had remembered her lip gloss… otherwise she would never had been a witness to a murder, became a murderer herself (she claims it’s self defence, because to be honest, he came after her first), or became the guardian to her arch-nemesis David Stark. That was then and this is now, it isn’t before long that she is forced to finally take responsibility, and be a  guardian (Paladin in other terms). Whether Harper like it or not she’s going to have to give up her perfect lifestyle.

I misjudge books sometimes, especially since I thought it was really girly, but I will be the first to admit it: I was wrong. There are times you need not to judge a book by it’s pearly pink cover and actually judge it by the badassery of the main character, Harper. Rachel Hawkins sums up this book perfectly: “it’s like Legally Blonde meets The Terminator!” You need to know Harper is this ‘perfect southern belle’ who is chosen to be the complete opposite of everything that she has known and loves. In some ways it’s a paradox: a southern belle goes to the bathroom to put on lip gloss and comes out a dangerously trained chick who can kill. What I love a lot is that Harper, despite the awkward situation she’s put in, still manages to keep sane and be able to have a relatively normal life.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars.

Hexed by: Michelle Krys

Title:  Hexed
Author:  Michelle Krys
Genre:  Romance, Magic, YA/Teen
Age:  13+
Rating:  3 out of 5 stars

Summary:

If high school is all about social status, Indigo Blackwood has it made. Sure, her quirky mom owns an occult shop, and a nerd just won’t stop trying to be her friend, but Indie is a popular cheerleader with a football-star boyfriend and a social circle powerful enough to ruin everyone at school. Who wouldn’t want to be her?

Then a guy dies right before her eyes. And the dusty old family Bible her mom is freakishly possessive of is stolen. But it’s when a frustratingly sexy stranger named Bishop enters Indie’s world that she learns her destiny involves a lot more than pom-poms and parties. If she doesn’t get the Bible back, every witch on the planet will die. And that’s seriously bad news for Indie, because according to Bishop, she’s a witch too.

Suddenly forced into a centuries-old war between witches and sorcerers, Indie’s about to uncover the many dark truths about her life—and a future unlike any she ever imagined on top of the cheer pyramid.

Reaction:

I was so excited when I picked this up, so excited.  So, naturally I had to start reading it straight away, which I did.  And when I finished I had no feelings about this book, none at all.  This book was mediocre in every way and shape possible.  The beginning was a little boring and only got slightly more interesting at the end of the novel.

The Characters:

Indigo (Aka: Indie):  The popular girl who has the perfect life...except she's a witch.  Indigo was okay in my mind but there were a couple major things that bothered me about her.  First of all, she slut shames a lot of girls (mostly her best friend), yet Indigo also dresses in a revealing way (to put it in nicer terms).  Second of all, Indigo mentions several times how she has the third highest GPA in her school, yet she doesn't know what I recessive gene is!  For goodness gracious what has this world come to!!!  Indigo did have a couple funny one-liners though.

Bishop (Aka: Bish):  The dark horse, the mysterious guy, the bad boy.  Yes, Bishop has tattoos and wears leather jackets.  I did not like Bishop one bit.  He was deliberately mean to Indie on several occasions and their relationship was not healthy in my mind.  Bishop was constantly making sexist and pervy comments towards Indie that made me pretty unhappy.

Overall:

This picture basically sums up the book for me.  Hexed did have a few good moments and there were a couple of times that I got excited (mostly when there were fighting or magic practicing scenes, but hey!  Aren't those everyone's favorite scenes?)  The reason that this book got three stars is because I didn't hate it and I didn't like it.  This felt very much like a filler book to me.  As in, a book to read while I am in-between books.  I suppose I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a romance with a mysterious/slightly rude love interest or one that enjoys a book that is easy to read with witches in it!

Polaris Awakening: {Cover Reveal!}

Cait here (yes, I know it’s suppose to be Terantum’s day but today is her day off!) Happy Friday the 13th, make sure to have a black cat on you at all times.

I have something exciting for you today. A report has just come in from Polaris:

ZEUS PROTOCAL 000101: REBOOT, SCAN.
DANGER DETECTED.
THREAT LEVEL: UNKNOWN.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: INCREASE MILITARY PRESENCE.
There’s trouble brewing on Polaris. Under the watchful eye of the space station’s supercomputer, Zeus, the lower classes are awakening to the corruption of their wealthy, privileged, and protected leaders. When the quiet voices of protest get louder and alliances form, change dawns on the horizon. But the small acts of resistance won’t be enough to subvert the system for long. Zeus is alert to the growing threat level, and he will do whatever’s necessary—including purging the lower levels of Polaris—to preserve stability for all.
Inspired by the mythology of the constellations hung around Polaris, the seven stories in Polaris Awakening reimagine the classic characters in a futuristic world where alien creatures are commonplace, combat arenas are used for entertaining foreign dignitaries, slaves and soldiers stand side by side, and music orchestrates a revolution. And their first acts of defiance are just the beginning. Polaris will never be the same.
ZEUS PROTOCAL 000099: ENGAGE THREAT.
There are seven stories contributing to the anthology. And our authors (in order of appearance) are: Kellie Sheridan, Erin Latimer, Erica Crouch, Janna Jennings, Hannah Davies, Terra Harmony, and Meghan Jashinsky.

Hey Terantum, I’m just saying we have to get this book. It looks amazing. Besides who doesn’t like little astrology?

Famous in Love by Rebecca Serle

*The following text is an honest review. Thank you and please enjoy.*

I got 99 problems, and being a fangirl is one. While reading this book I got into a conversation with another fangirl about “chick lit.” It basically went like this: “I love reading it, but I hate reading it in public because someone is bound to judge. They automatically assume if it has a girly cover then it’s really romantic and saucy (this wasn’t the word she used, but let’s keep things appropriate), but sometimes the book is just a generally good book.”

If you’re wondering, this book is amazing ‘chick lit’ and not the stuff to be just fluffy but actual high quality ‘chick lit’. Wow… I never thought I would say that phrase. CONGRATS! YOU WON THIS ROUND!

Famous in Love revolves around Paige Townsen as she lands the role of playing the lead character in a famous book that is being adapted into a movie. Book-ception! (I love when book’s mention other books, even if those books don’t exist.) She soon makes friends, then falls in love, with her co-star Rainer Devon, and it gets a whole lot more complicated when Jordan Wilder comes. Slowly she falls in love with both of them. The whole world awaits the answer: who does she choose? The answer might surprise you!

From start to finish the book left me wanting more, and I still want more. Rebecca Serle has crafted a wonderful world that parallels our own.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Book Haul Time!!!!!!

Never have I had a day go so perfectly in my favor.  First off, it was a half day at school today so I happened to get off at 12:45 instead of 3:25, bonus!  Second off, I got to go get candy with my family and go shopping after school.  Third, I go in BAM and get two books (one of which was three dollars).  And then lastly (and probably most exciting), I walk up to my front door and I see an ARC copy of "End of Days" by Susan Ee just sitting there, nicely wrapped for me.  And this entire time I'm thinking to myself, "How the heck did I just get so lucky all in one day?!"

Anyways, what I'm sure what you guys really want to see is the books that I am hauling, so here they are...  I am seriously sorry about the crappiness and low quality of the image.  My internet has been slow so when I tried to e-mail myself the original picture it wouldn't send, so I had to use my computer's front webcam.  Which if you know what that is; it is the webcam at the top of the screen so that meant I had to do some pretty serious ninja moves to get myself out of the picture and the books decently in the picture...sorry again.

(Starting from the left)

1)  The Forsaken by:  Lisa M. Stasse

2)  Shadow Scale by:  Rachel Hartman

3)  End of Days by:  Susan Ee

I hope you guys also had a fantastic day and I will see you next time!!!!

Feeling excited -Terantum :)

The Scar Boys by Len Vlahos

*The following text is an honest review. Thank you and please enjoy.*

Fun fact: My old English teacher used to have the author, Len Vlahos, as a boss so our classroom has a signed copy!

My mind has a hard time wrapping around this book, because I know it was way too good. The Scar Boys is one of those books I believe has the qualities to become a classic the way The Outsiders are today; it catches the human experience in a way most authors can’t manage to catch with words alone. It truly is mind blowing how Len Vlahos wove the words into a very enchanting story, that even I thought that I wouldn’t like at first.

Harbinger “Harry” Roiber Francis Jones is not your typical “hero”, because in fact he isn’t. No, he’s like you and me except he got almost got struck by lightning, almost. Now his face is scarred and he’s a misfit, that is until he meets Johnny, or rather Johnny meets him. The two become quick friends and Johnny decides to start a band. This is the tale, or rather journey that lead Harry to become the person he calls himself: music, guitar, and everything else that he becomes.

After reading this book I now understand why my friend nicknamed this book the guide of her life. It is so much more than it appears on the surface. In some way by reading this it helps you discover something about yourself.

But there is a reference in the book I must understand. In back flap of the book it says Len Vlahos was part of the Woofing Cookies, and then in the book it says a member (drummer) of the Woofing Cookies talked to Harry. Was that Len Vlahos himself?

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars. And luckily I have the advance readers copy of the next book. TIME TO READ SCAR GIRL.
