Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins

*The following review is completely honest.*

Cait here (finally back from vacation that is, so sorry from lack of posts) and Terantum my 2 to zero score against you in the way of recommending books has been lost. On the other hand you just scored your first point!

Cait: 2
Terantum: 1

You know how recently I was bashing Rebel Belle without even reading it? You also said I should read it, and you were right! It was amazing! Remind me later that you are always right when it comes to books Sis.

Rebel Belle revolves around a southern belle by the name of Harper Price who ends up at the wrong place at the wrong time. If only Harper had remembered her lip gloss… otherwise she would never had been a witness to a murder, became a murderer herself (she claims it’s self defence, because to be honest, he came after her first), or became the guardian to her arch-nemesis David Stark. That was then and this is now, it isn’t before long that she is forced to finally take responsibility, and be a  guardian (Paladin in other terms). Whether Harper like it or not she’s going to have to give up her perfect lifestyle.

I misjudge books sometimes, especially since I thought it was really girly, but I will be the first to admit it: I was wrong. There are times you need not to judge a book by it’s pearly pink cover and actually judge it by the badassery of the main character, Harper. Rachel Hawkins sums up this book perfectly: “it’s like Legally Blonde meets The Terminator!” You need to know Harper is this ‘perfect southern belle’ who is chosen to be the complete opposite of everything that she has known and loves. In some ways it’s a paradox: a southern belle goes to the bathroom to put on lip gloss and comes out a dangerously trained chick who can kill. What I love a lot is that Harper, despite the awkward situation she’s put in, still manages to keep sane and be able to have a relatively normal life.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars.
